Wix Ui License Agreement

WixUIExtension.dll includes a standard placeholder license agreement. To specify your product`s license, override the default setting by specifying a WiX variable named WixUILicenseRtf with the value of an RTF file containing your license text. You can set the variable in your WiX creation: (B) No trademark license – This license does not grant you any right to use the contributors` name, logo, or trademarks. (E) If you distribute any part of the Software in source code form, you may only do so under this License by ensuring a complete copy of this License with your distribution. If you distribute any portion of the Software in compiled code or object form, you may only do so under a license corresponding to this License. Sometimes the mutual license is misinterpreted to also apply to bundles, packages, and custom actions created with the WiX toolset. The Outercurve Foundation has previously provided this statement below to clarify what the .NET Foundation now confirms: Request an option to ignore the license agreement in WixUIExtension. This license governs the use of the associated software. If you use the software, you agree to this license. If you do not accept the license, do not use the software. (F) The Software is licensed „as is“.

You bear the risk of use. Contributors make no express warranties or conditions. You may have additional consumer rights under your local laws that cannot be changed by this license. To the extent permitted by your local laws, Contributors disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. WiX Toolset (WiX) is licensed under the Microsoft Reciprocal License (MS-RL). The MS-RL regulates the distribution of licensed software as well as derivative works and contains the definition of a derivative work under U.S. copyright law. OuterCurve Foundation (and .NET Foundation) does not consider installation packages generated by WiX to fall within the definition of a derivative work simply because they are created with WiX. Therefore, installation packages generated by WiX typically fall outside the scope of MS-RL, and your source code, binaries, libraries, routines, or other software components embedded in installation packages generated by WiX may be subject to different license terms.

Instead of providing an option to ignore the license agreement, the inventory dialog set could be extended with No Eula versions. The attached Wix_MinimalNoUla.wxs is a modified version of WixUI_Minimal.wxs as an example. As a Wix UI enthusiast, I`ll post it here in case someone else finds it useful. There is a known issue with the rich text control used to display the license file text, which can make the text blank until the user scrolls down in the control. . . .
